  • Notes
    • Note: This John Ruck is not the son of John Ruck and Frances Launcefield as that John was apprenticed by his father in 1795 for a period of 7 years as a cooper at London. That John's apprenticeship would not have finished until 1802 and generally, apprentices were not permitted to marry. Additionally, even if this John had been that John and apprenticed for only 4 years he would have been able to sign his name in the marriage register at Charing. So, that further supports my suspicions that John who married Alice Russell is not the John Ruck who married Elizabeth Ann Winder. Another point is that the marriage of John Ruck and Elizabeth Ann Winder states that John Ruck was of Lambeth. The 1841 census is the final piece of evidence that support the conclusion that the John Ruck who married Elizabeth Ann Winder is definitely not the same John Ruck who married Alice Miller nee Russell as the former is in the outer suburbs of London in Kent and the latter is in Charing.
